GOVERNMENT TO BUILD A STADIUM AT OFFINSO: NSA Boss Declares

The Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Professor Peter Twumasi has confirmed government’s decision to building an ultra-modern sports stadium at Offinso in the Ashanti region. 

Prof. Twumasi said this today when speaking on Kessben FM’s Final Whistle sports show. He said that, the decision of government to build an ultra-modern sports stadium was a proposal from the Offinsomanhene.

The NSA Boss said that, Nana Wiafe Aketen III, the paramount chief of Offinso Tradional Area told them in a meeting, when they visited the Paramount chief and families of the victims of the accident which occurred weeks ago at Offinso.


“Offinsohene told us (delegates at the meeting) that, he has allocated a land in the centre of Offinso which he request that the government should use to build a stadium in honour of the young footballers who lost their lives”. He said.

According to Prof. Twumasi, the President, Nana Akuffo Addo has accepted the proposal hence; very soon the project will start. “Government took care of all expenses covering the funeral and the welfare as well as hospital expenses of the wounded footballers. The president is ready to assist the National Sports Authority in building of the ultra-modern sports complex in Offinso”. Prof. Twumasi Added.

The young footballers who died 

On the 19th of September, 2020, players and officials of Colt’s Football Club, Vision Academy who were travelling back to Offinso after a registration exercise at Afrancho in Kumasi were engage in an accident which caused the dead of seven (7) children, ages between 12 and 16.
